Family Resource Services (Children)

Family Resource Services  

  • Services are offered in Alliston, Midland, Collingwood, and Orillia, and surrounding areas. 
  • Hours of service are Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30; evening appointments can be arranged with the individual Family Resource Worker.

Goal:

The goal of Family Resource Service is to:

  • work in partnership with families who have a child who is school aged to 18 years, with a developmental disability (IQ below 70) and/or a physical disability. 
  • work with the family, service agencies, and schools to identify strengths and needs through the Individual Family Service Plan, and assists the family in accessing necessary and available community resources. 

     Services Provided:

    • Information and referral to social service agencies, summer camps, and other supports
    • Assistance with school meetings, IPRC meetings, advocacy
    • Managing the support your child receives
    • Assisting with applications for funding programs and tax credits
    • General supports and education related to your child
    • Respite options
    • Planning
    • Assist with transition (e.g. to and from school)

    Information:

    • Community education (e.g. speaking engagements, consultation to other programs or service providers)
    • Local planning tables
    • Provide information sessions to families
    • Visits can be in the family home

    Referrals:

    • Referrals may be accepted from parent/guardians, or professionals in conjunction with the family.
