Catulpa Community Support Services is seeking individuals residing in the County of Simcoe or the Region of York, with a strong interest in services and programs for those with special needs, to oversee the organization’s governance and future policy within a Volunteer Board of Director role in Barrie, ON. Individuals with disabilities, and those from diverse backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.
Currently, Catulpa Community Support Services invites volunteer applicants for a Board of Director position as a legal representative. Have you, or a member of your family been involved with programs or services for persons with special or unique needs or do you have an interest in the community of practice for persons with special needs? This is your opportunity to share your legal experience or understanding within corporate, commercial, health or regulatory fields.
Volunteer Board of Directors: Role and Time Commitment
The Catulpa Community Support Services’ Board is responsible for effective governance of the agency through oversight of strategic planning, fiscal review and determination of mission related policy.
It is not responsible for fundraising, personnel, programs, services, curricula or budgets. Volunteer Directors provide special skills and knowledge, (finance, law, social services, healthcare, etc.) within the Board setting.
Meetings take place in Barrie, ON six times annually for approximately three hours per meeting. Successful Board of Director applicants are appointed for a term of three years and provided a mentor.

Catulpa Community Support Services is a FOCUS accredited, registered non-profit agency serving families, adults and children with special or unique needs in The County of Simcoe, Region of York, the Four Counties and Durham.
Catulpa Community Support Services is funded by Health Canada, the County of Simcoe, and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. The agency consists of almost 100 staff persons, with an annual budget exceeding 30 million dollars.
