As you may be aware, the Provincial Government has extended the Personal Support Worker wage enhancement past March 31st, 2022, and has introduced legislation to support the enhancement in becoming permanent.
In tandem with this announcement, The Passport Program will also be increasing funding for its participants. Effective July 1st, 2022, Passport Program participants will receive an increase in their annual Passport approval amount. The increase will be pro-rated for 9 months for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
Please be advised that this funding will be automatically added to your Passport approval amount starting July 1st, 2022 and no action is required by you.
Effective April 1st, 2023, the full 12 months of the increase will be provided for the 2023 – 2024 fiscal year.
Passport Program recipients can continue to access funding through the same process as the temporary wage enhancement and can continue to submit claims through the regular claims process for any support hours worked from October 1st, 2020 to June 30th, 2022.
Please note that all claims for Support Worker hours must be submitted by June 30th, 2022 to receive funding for the $3.00 per hour top-up. Similar to the temporary wage enhancement, the $3.00 per hour top-up will not come out of your annual Passport approval amount.
