Simcoe County Community Action Program for Children (CAPC)

Catulpa Community Support Services offers MotherCare, Next Step, and CAPC programs. These programs are available to individuals and families who are pregnant and/or parenting children 0- 6 years of age and who are living on a limited annual income in Simcoe County.

The Simcoe County Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) is part of a national program that has been supporting young parents, families, and Newcomers to Canada for over 25 years. The CAPC and CPNP programs hosted by Catulpa Community Support Services aim to promote the healthy development of young children from birth to age 6 and support healthy pregnancies and parents/caregivers.

MotherCare Program

MotherCare is a free weekly program offered to pregnant individuals and is designed to promote healthy pregnancies in a friendly and supportive environment. This program gives participants the opportunity to discuss and receive information about nutrition and healthy eating during pregnancy, pre and postnatal health and wellness, breastfeeding, and newborn care and needs. Participants who attend programs will also have access to:

  • Prenatal vitamins and vitamin D drops for breastfed infants
  • A weekly $20.00 grocery gift card
  • Public Health Nurse, Dietitian and Community Partner support

Next Step Program

The Next Step Program is a free weekly program offered to individuals with children 0 - 36 months (3 years) of age and is designed to support a healthy start for kids. This program gives participants the opportunity to discuss and receive information about nutrition and healthy eating, infant mental health, community resources, child development, health and wellness, and parenting education and support. Participants who attend programs will also have access to:

  • A weekly $20.00 grocery gift card.

Community Action Program for Children (CAPC)

CAPC programs are free and offered regularly to individuals and families with children 0 – 6 years of age and provide fun and inclusive activities to support healthy children and families. Activities relate to nutrition, health, parenting, and child development. CAPC programs also help parents recognize the needs of their children and can help connect them to resources that will support those needs and promote school readiness and a healthy start in life.

  • Next Step: Offered to individuals and families who are parenting children 0-36 months (3 years) of age living in Simcoe County on a limited annual income (under $40,000 annually) 
  • CAPC Programs: Offered to individuals and families who are parenting children 0-6 years of age living in Simcoe County on a limited annual income (under $40,000 annually)

  • MotherCare (CPNP) and Next Step (CAPC) are funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada
  • CAPC’s Next Step, Young Parent and Children’s Programs are funded by The County of Simcoe
Simcoe County Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) and MotherCare (Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program – CPNP) are a part of a national program with then 25 years of experience supporting families in this region. We support pregnant participants, young parents, and Newcomers to Canada with children 0-6 years old who are currently living on a lower income.

Please confirm that you are currently living on a lower income (less than $40,000 before taxes per year) in Simcoe County and that you are currently pregnant and/or live with children 0-6 of age.
Data Collection Consent and Required Information
We do not maintain participant “notes” related to your participation with us but we are required by our funders to track attendance and the resources we distribute. We use an electronic data management system to record and store minimal personal information and program attendance. This information includes: name, date of birth, income, due dates and/or dates of birth of your children. Other information that we request is optional for you to provide. Detailed information about this consent can be found in our Welcome Letter.

Simcoe County CAPC-CPNP requires an email address for your participation in all programs. Please give us a call at 705-733-3227 ext. 2236 if you have any questions or if you do not have an email address.
